Matching

When you look for a stranger, we match you with someone who's waiting, preferring people of a similar age. Two people who have already chatted won't be randomly matched again, so every search brings someone new. Website and app users are matched together.

Several chats at once

On the web you can have up to 5 chats open at the same time. Each chat is a round avatar in the row above the conversation; tap one to switch, and unread counts appear right on the avatar. Tap (+) “Find more” to look for someone else without leaving your current chat.

Messages, stickers and photos

You can send messages, animated stickers and photos. Text messages are end-to-end encrypted. Photos are resized automatically, stripped of location data and deleted from the server after 24 hours.

Invite to chat again

If the two of you exchanged more than 50 messages, you can send an invite to chat again from “Chat history”, even if the other person is offline. The invite stays for 7 days. See the step-by-step guide.

Notifications

Choose “Turn on notifications” to be told about new messages and invites, even after you close the page. Notifications only say that someone sent you a message; they never contain the message itself. On iPhone, add nguoila.io to your Home Screen (iOS 16.4 or later) to get notifications from the website, or use the app.

Ending a chat

Tap “Leave this conversation” to leave. The other person is told that you've left. Once both of you have left, the messages are deleted from the server.
